Case study

What it changed

  1. The problem

Ulaanbaatar Coffee roasts its own Ethiopian beans and runs one of the largest self-service coffee fleets in the city:

    • 650+ machines, from home units to commercial installations, serving upwards of 10,000 cups a day.
    • Every cup starts as an order on a screen: it has to become the right sequence of device commands, the payment has to match a cup that was actually poured, and any fault along the way has to be reported rather than fail silently.
  2. What I built

I worked full-stack on the system behind those machines:

    • backend services and APIs, the web interfaces on top of them, and the machine-side control logic.
    • I wrote that logic against the vending devices' own protocols and hardware documentation, covering brew sequences, ingredient and water handling, cup and dispense steps, and fault reporting.
  3. What it changed

Because one system covers every layer, from the order screen down to the machine, that whole chain is handled in one place.

    • A failure anywhere in it ends in a state that is correct for both the customer and the operator watching the fleet remotely.
