Case study

What it changed

  1. The problem

Edu Milk is Magic Store's newest line and is being rolled out now: milk machines in schools, where the customer is a pupil.

    • A school is a different place to run a machine: traffic arrives all at once at break time, the stock is perishable and tracked by date, and the people next to a machine when something goes wrong are teachers and school staff, not technicians.
  2. What I built

I am working on the software behind these machines:

    • the flow on the machine itself, which has to explain itself without a technician present, and the backend and reporting side that records what each machine dispensed and feeds it into the same management system that runs the rest of the fleet.
  3. What it changed

That way Edu Milk is added to the existing fleet instead of becoming a separate system beside it.

    • With the line still new, most of the work now is getting the basics right before the number of machines grows: break-time peaks, date-tracked stock and a machine that explains itself.
